2019 Alder Springs Vineyard Mendocino Syrah

Wine notes

We co-fermented 100% whole clusters with 3% Viognier—in the classic Rhône style—to lock in color and accentuate aromatics before aging this wine 16 months in neutral oak barrels.

Pure red fruit notes with flickerings of cracked pepper and green olive give way to a gorgeous floral lift as it opens in the glass. Pair with roasted winter vegetables or charred cauliflower steaks.

Vineyard notes

Stu Bewley planted his Mendocino vineyard in the mid-1990s. When you arrive at Alder Springs—a few hours north of the Bay Area, just 12 miles from the coast—you find yourself in the wilderness. The vineyard is perched 2,000 feet high in the mountains of Mendocino, hedged by a thick forest of redwoods.
