Hibou Red Wine Sonoma Valley 2023

The 2023 Hibou Red is a beautifully crafted blend that captures the depth and versatility of Sonoma Valley. On the nose, ripe black cherry, plum, and wild raspberry unfold gracefully to reveal hints of rose petal, cocoa, and spice. On the palate, layers of blackberry, cassis, and cherry compote are lifted by intriguing undertones of cedar and fresh tobacco leaf. Silky tannins and a seamless balance lead to a long, lingering finish peppered by dark fruit and warm spice.

— 95 Decanter, Tension, power, elegance and sheer deliciousness do not often come together so seamlessly, but this red blend of 54% Malbec, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc hits all the marks. The bouquet reveals a host of blue- and black-fruit character, perfumed violets and elegant cedar and tobacco notes from new oak. Full-bodied, the wine is bolstered by polished, structured tannins that support layers of black and blue fruit on the palate, with cool wet-slate nuances and dark salted chocolate creating an indulgent finish.
